Over the years, Leeds United has lost a lot of extremely excellent academy graduates.

From Aaron Lennon to Lewis Cook and Fabian Delph, Leeds has frequently had trouble holding onto its finest young players.

Another gifted former young Leeds player has now revealed his reasons for leaving the team in an interview with The Spurs Show.

Danny Rose was signed by Leeds before going on to play in a Champions League final and make 29 appearances for England.

Rose claims that he left Leeds when he was a youngster because the team broke their word to him over playing time while he was developing.

The reason Danny Rose departed from Leeds
Rose talked about how he left Elland Road.

“I was promised things by Leeds if I stayed, and the next season I was benched, Kevin Blackwell was fired, and Dennis Wise had no desire to play the kids,” Rose remarked.

“I had the chance to watch a Spurs game, and United won 4-0. Tottenham attempted to hide me from television, but I had already decided to leave because Leeds had broken their word.”

Leeds’ grave error
Although hindsight is always 20/20, Leeds made a serious error in this case.

Naturally, it’s difficult to play a young player in the middle of a relegation fight, but Rose has since demonstrated that he has the potential to be a very useful member of Leeds’ team.

Even though he didn’t remain long, Leeds’s financial problems at the time may have been alleviated by the money they could have made later on if they had sold Rose.

Sadly, Leeds made a mistake with this one, and this is just another tale of an academy graduate who abruptly quit the team.
