Chief exceutive Carsten V. Jensen has hinted he expects interest to resurface in Brondby’s key men – and Celtic ‘s long-running interest in Mathias Kvistgaarden.
The Danish striker has been subject to firm Parkhead interest throughout the last two transfer windows with an offer worth more than £4m reportedly rejected in last summer. The 21-year-old has publicly stated that he did not hold any talks with the Scottish Premiership champions as he put the focus on lifting the Danish title this term – while the club blocked any mid-season move amid the Superliga run-in.
But with the club falling short in the title race and settling for a spot in the Europa Conference League – and director of football Jensen admits that players will be sold who there has been interest in during previous transfer windows. He told Viaplay: “We have an ambition to establish ourselves at the top of Danish football, play regularly in Europe and lift ourselves to a new level.
“That would be a good step on the way. We must have a competitive squad. As a starting point, it’s not because too many people have to go out, but there will be turnover over a summer. There was some interest previously and we expect more. It’s also nice to have some new blood and so on.”
Elsewhere, fans are waiting for Celtic to pull the trigger on a permanent deal for Adam Idah. However, the Scottish champions will have to wait on a decision from the new Norwich City boss after David Wagner was shown the door at the end of last summer.
And Kenny Miller reckons there is a figure that Celtic will refuse to hit. He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “I struggle to see Rangers or Celtic spending £10million on a player, ever. See if Adam Idah was £4million he would be signed by now. Maybe at £7million – which is similar to what Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers cost. But £10million if Kyogo is still in the building? Oft.”
Elsewhere, winger Jota is reportedly set to leave Al-Ittihad this summer. His move to the Saudi Pro League from Celtic for a whopping £25million hasn’t worked out with game-time limited for the forward.
Several reports in Saudi state that that deal has already been struck with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq for next season. It will reportedly be a loan move when the season kicks off again in the Middle East.
