Crysencio Summerville, a star for Leeds United, is expected to face off against Chelsea or Liverpool this summer as his Elland Road departure appears to be coming to an emotional close.

The 22-year-old was named the Championship’s Player of the Season in April thanks to his efforts with the Whites. In 49 games in all competitions, the Dutchman notched 10 assists in addition to 21 goals.

However, it seems more likely that Summerville would go the Yorkshire club after their play-off final loss to Southampton on Sunday afternoon at Wembley prevented them from qualifying for the Premier League. According to reports, Leeds owes other teams £190 million in transfer fee installments, of which £73 million must be paid by the end of June.

The offensive trio of Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto, and Summerville for the Whites is rumored to be one of the candidates to raise some, if not all, of that amount. Archie Gray, a young player who has been linked to Bayern Munich once more this week, is also expected to contribute significantly to the outstanding amount of money.

The Sun claims that Liverpool and Chelsea are the top contenders to sign him during the transfer season. Three additional Premier League teams—West Ham, Fulham, and Bournemouth—have also been discussed. However, their inability to provide European football is a drawback for them.

The 22-year-old would make sense to come to Anfield as Arne Slot takes over on Merseyside in the wake of Jurgen Klopp’s unexpected dismissal. During his three years with De club aan de Maas, Summerville’s previous team, Feyenoord, was coached by the new Reds manager, who helped them win the KNVB Cup and the Eredivisie championship.

The Dutchman’s versatility in the forward areas is considered a key attribute and could be viewed as a ready-made replacement for Liverpool’s frontline. Both Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been linked with moves away from Anfield ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

But he could prove to be Enzo Maresca’s first signing as Chelsea head coach as his move from Leicester City to Stamford Bridge edges ever closer. The Italian had a front row seat to Summerville’s talents having featured twice in the Whites’ two victories over the East Midlands club in the league.

Having signed from Feyenoord in 2020 for a reported £1.3million, Leeds are set to make a huge profit on the 22-year-old. Summerville is valued at around £35-£40million following his performances for Daniel Farke ‘s side this term and while he would be a huge loss, would provide a significant dent in the money the need to accumulate before the end of next month.
