James McClean has openly expressed his long-standing wish to sign for Celtic, a move he says was never fulfilled because of the club’s board’s concerns.

In response to an Instagram farewell message from Adam Idah, the 35-year-old Wrexham player disclosed that he had been trying for ten years to get a transfer to his boyhood club.

Idah, who gave Celtic the victory against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final, is presently on loan from Norwich City, and talks are in on to make his move permanent. On Instagram, McClean entered the conversation where supporters were urging Idah to stick with Celtic and shared his own unrealized goal of playing for the Hoops.

When a fan suggested McClean should also sign for Celtic, he replied, “Tried for 10 years, board s*** scared of the ‘drama’.”

Throughout his career, McClean has made no secret of his affection for Celtic, and despite his successful stints in professional football, the move to Celtic Park remains an unachieved goal as he approaches the later stages of his playing career.
