Leeds United may now have to sell two key players during this summer’s transfer window if they are not to be promoted to the Premier League. One of those players is promising prodigy Archie Gray, who has been linked to Arsenal.

Leeds will not be returning straight to the Premier League for the 2024–2025 season after losing to Southampton in the Championship playoff final.

In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his most recent Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano addressed Gray’s alleged Arsenal connection and offered his thoughts on Crysencio Summerville’s future.

Now that links with Arsenal have surfaced, Romano has made it apparent that he believes Leeds will need to sell Gray and Summerville. He has also hinted that the Premier League and other teams may be interested in the players.

Leeds transfer blow as Arsenal target could be among the names to leave

Speaking about what may now prove to be a very difficult summer for Leeds, Romano stated: “At last, Arsenal has been among the many teams connected to Archie Gray at Leeds United. Certainly, Germany and England are interested in Gray.

“Yes, I expect movement on these two players and we will see how Leeds reacts. Leeds were hoping to keep both Gray and Crysencio Summerville, but it might be difficult now that they missed out on promotion to the Premier League.”

This news will not have pleased LUFC supporters, who will probably battle even more to see their beloved Yorkshire team promoted if they are forced to let go of some of their best young players.

In contrast to Leicester and Southampton, who are getting ready to return to the top division after just one season away, Leeds fell down just over a year ago and have not been able to climb back up again.

Nevertheless, it appears that Gray will have plenty of opportunity to advance to a major club.
