Once it’s announced that Enzo Maresca is leaving Leicester City, the vast majority of fans have endorsed Graham Potter to take over as manager of the team.

The Italian is still the club’s manager for the time being, but Chelsea’s approach suggests that this may soon change. The London team decided that Maresca would be the best candidate to take over as manager. They formally contacted Leicester to initiate contact, and this week’s developments indicate that the transfer is almost finished.

Following completion, Leicester will have to decide for themselves what kind of manager they need for the upcoming season. Their present coach was promoted thanks to his distinctive football style, but installing a firefighter, at least temporarily, would be more sensible given the impending financial fair play (FFP) fines.

Leicestershire Live wanted to know what the fans had to say on the matter, and so we put out a poll on Tuesday featuring several options to choose from. The roster was made up of those pitched by our very own Jordan Blackwell, as well as some named as early frontrunners for the job by bookmakers.

After a first day of voting, ex-Brighton and Chelsea boss Potter has ranked top with 47 percent of Foxes fans hoping to see him appointed ahead of a return to the Premier League. The 49-year-old rejected an approach from City when first dismissed from Stamford Bridge, though over a year away from the sport may have whet his appetite for a return.

Potter is the bookies’ 3/1 second-favourite for the Leicester job as things stand, trailing West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan at 9/4. Roles were reversed in our poll, with the Spaniard’s 16 percent placing him as second preference among our readers.

Coventry City’s Mark Robins was the last of the options to reach double digits by picking up 10 percent of the vote, with other options sharing minimal preference among fans.
