Stan Collymore, the leader of Chelsea, has a warning for Enzo Maresca, the departing manager of Leicester City, saying he might not make it through Christmas.

Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement, Maresca, is anticipated to be revealed on Friday after holding discussions with Chelsea’s management during the week. After leading Leicester back to the Premier League in his one and only season at the King Power Stadium, he is leaving the team.

Regardless of his employer, the Italian would have been moving up the divisions, but this change comes with more pressure to reach the top of the table. Chelsea hopes to get back into the top four as soon as possible, having finished the previous season five points outside of it.

This objective has outperformed four predecessors in the last two years, but a five-year contract in West London indicates a renewed willingness to give Maresca responsibility for a protracted process. Collymore, a pundit and former striker for Aston Villa and Liverpool, has maintained that Chelsea will not be scared to buck the current pattern and fire the new guy if things don’t work out.

“It’s a very, very, very different beast to Chelsea, with all due respect to Parma and Leicester,” the former Premier League striker cautions Maresca in his most recent essay for CaughtOffside.

“He is familiar with England; as a player, he began his career at West Bromwich Albion. He has also played for Sevilla,

A portion of Pochettino’s issues at Chelsea the previous season stemmed from a run of inconsistent performances from a reorganized roster that included several new players. He ultimately led the team to the FA Cup semifinals, the Carabao Cup final, and a sixth-place finish in the league; nevertheless, this was unable to prevent a definitive breakup as his demand for more influence over player contracts was disregarded.

Collymore went on, “Even if the club is on the verge of breaking FFP rules despite selling hotels in London and engaging in all kinds of creative accounting, he’ll need to put wins on the board without, maybe, some of his key players because they’ll be sold. The Blues must quickly achieve a number of excellent results if they want to

Being a youthful, erratic, rookie squad, I would be shocked if, by Christmas, there weren’t already rumors concerning Maresca’s status. I think Poch was a great choice for the club, and this appointment is unimpressive. I also have a hunch that we will be talking about Chelsea changing managers once more in November or December.”
