Undoubtedly, Daryl Dike’s tenure at West Bromwich Albion has not transpired as he, the team, or the supporters would have desired.

After joining the Hawthorns in 2022, he has only appeared in 32 games over the course of three seasons.

As the summer transfer window draws near and West Brom needs a sizable quantity of money to make the playoffs the following year, FLW’s West Brom fan analyst Matt Smith believes Dike ought to be let go in order to supplement this summer’s funding.

West Brom is pushed to get paid back for the Dike transaction.

Speaking with FLW, Matt disclosed to us that he would be pleased to see Daryl Dike go from West Brom this summer if any player were to be traded.

“If the club were to cash in on any one player this summer, I’d be happy for it Daryl Dike, all because of his injury issues,” Matt stated.

“Given what he cost us previously, you would think that we would be able to recover at least some of the £10 million that he cost us.”

Perhaps I’m not correct. Although he is still young, he has seen numerous injury setbacks during his time here, therefore in my opinion, cash would be preferable at this time.

“It makes sense when you weigh that against the advantage of him being fit, which won’t occur until the end of this year.

“You can say that about any club, and it is a shame, but weighing up the two, I think we would much rather the potential money a sale could bring than a fit and firing Daryl Dike, as there is no guarantee he stays fit.”

In an effort to ease the burden on an injured player, Matt also made an effort to identify a few other players that he believes West Brom should try to milk for cash.

“Aside from Dike, there aren’t too many other players that I think we would actually be able to cash in on this summer,” Matt continued.

“Our present fullbacks aren’t my favorite players, so they could be able to fetch a higher price, but I highly doubt that they will be retained.

Josh Griffiths is an additional choice. Currently playing for England at the U21 level, he would be an asset to the team when Albion needs money, even though the club already has two excellent goalkeepers.

Low on funds This summer, West Brom will move cautiously.
When West Brom looks to conduct business this summer, they’ll probably proceed cautiously.

Even though they placed fifth in the League this season, the Midlands-based team is by no means a major spender.

Oliver Burke, who they signed in 2017 for £15 million, is their record signing. Neither of their transfers this season—whether bosman or loan—have required a transfer fee.

As a result, it is quite possible that they will only pursue any of their identified targets this summer if players like Dike are traded for a high price from the Hawthorns.

Their pursuit of Celtic’s Mikey Johnston, who has made an impression since joining the team at the conclusion of the January transfer window, may be impacted by this strategy.

Although there are no official reports suggesting the Baggies are planning to attempt a bold transfer to bring the Irishman back to the Hawthorns, West Brom will undoubtedly be the first team to be considered if the winger is unable to establish himself in the Celtic first team. However, this will only happen if they have the financial means to do so.

It’s highly possible that West Brom won’t be able to recover the entire £10 million that Matt thinks they paid for Dike in 2022.

But if they succeed in taking advantage of the American’s decision to relocate and deduct his pay from the payroll, then not much more can be said about the whole relocation process, except from the query of “What
