According to West Ham Football, West Ham sensation Jacob Knightbridge is expected to depart the Hammers after 13 years with the team.

On May 31, the dependable Hammers news source revealed that the London Stadium team will release the 20-year-old goalkeeper.

Like defender Ben Johnson, he signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2022 and will now play out the rest of his career without the team.

“Brentwood-born West Ham goalkeeper Jacob Knightbridge is set to be released by the Hammers when his contract expires at end of next month,” the source stated on Twitter.

It makes sense for West Ham and Jacob Knightbridge to part ways.
Given that Knightbridge did not advance in the way the club would have preferred, it makes sense for the Hammers to split company with him.

Despite being a member of the senior matchday squad, the goalkeeper, who joined the team at the age of seven and signed his first professional contract in 2022, has not been able to establish himself in the first team.

Given his age and the club’s need for immediate impact in the goalkeeping position, it is understandable that the London outfit would choose to release him.

The choice also takes into account the competitive aspect of professional football, where teams are required to constantly assess and modify their roster in order to suit their current demands.

The Hammers are probably looking to add more accomplished or talented goalkeepers who can challenge for the starting position right away now that Knightbridge has been released.

Although Knightbridge’s next destination is still unknown, his departure from West Ham suggests that the team is trying to bolster its goalkeeping unit going forward.
