Wout Faes’ future at Leicester City was this week discussed in an interview with the Belgian media.
Starting with the promotion to the Premier League, Faes insisted everyone at the club knew they needed to get back to the top flight as soon as possible.
“We didn’t expect to go down, and to go up straight away is what we wanted. The outcome of the season was therefore positive,” said Faes.
Faes was then asked whether he’s staying at Leicester City for another season, and didn’t really want to confirm that.
“You never know how it can happen in football. If I play a good Euros, it can go very quickly. It would almost be a luxury problem, because I feel very good at Leicester, and getting back into the Premier League is an important thing for me.”
It’s been a while since Faes was linked with an exit from Leicester City. Last year, the likes of Bologna, Fiorentina and Torino all tried to sign him, with Atalanta also interested in a January switch.
With the Foxes now back in the Premier League, they’ll certainly demand more money for his exit, so it’s very likely that the list of interested sides would change. The defender, who has a contract with Leicester running until 2027, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €20m.
