Now that Enzo Maresca is the official manager of Chelsea, Leicester City can move to find and select the manager who will spearhead their Premier League survival.

According to reports, Leicester City has spoken with Carlos Corberan of West Brom as they step up their hunt for a new manager.

After Enzo Maresca’s departure was confirmed, it was anticipated that City would search more vigorously for his replacement. On Monday, the Italian was named Chelsea’s next manager. Just one day later, rumors have it that City had already spoken with Corberan about filling the now-vacant hot seat.

The Spaniard, who guided the Baggies to the playoffs this year, is reportedly being considered for the King Power Stadium position. And now there have been talks, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The club’s interest in Corberan suggests that, despite their reservations about Profit and Sustainability regulations, they are prepared to pay a compensation price to acquire the player they desire. It is estimated that the expense of removing Corberan from the Hawthorns would be approximately £4 million.

As things stand, former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is the bookies’ favorite, albeit given his connections to the City Ground, he might be hesitant to accept the position. Graham Potter, who is still considered a long shot, is being pursued by teams like Oscar Garcia of OH Leuven and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former manager of PSV.

Seeking a manager who would “lead our return to the Premier League and continue the implementation of our long-term vision,” City stated in their announcement regarding Maresca. That may imply that the team is not looking for a survival specialist to help them avoid relegation during what looks to be a challenging season.

When Maresca was originally appointed, he claimed that director of football Jon Rudkin and chairman Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha had only discussed changing the style of play rather than discussing a speedy return to the Premier League. This implies even more that Maresca’s ideals will be upheld by any new hire.

The Italian claimed earlier this season, recalling his discussion with City, “No one mentioned promotion, I swear.” The chairman and Jon Rudkin never insisted that we get promoted when I initially met them. They merely mentioned that they wanted us to alter our look. We wish to construct a new structure.
