According to Mundo Deportivo, West Ham United has made an offer to Aleix Garcia and Girona in an attempt to sabotage Bayer Leverkusen’s pursuit of the midfield player.

The Spanish news source claims on their website (June 4) that the Hammers have submitted a £13.6 million bid to Girona in an attempt to outbid the Bundesliga champions for the Spaniard (Eduard Sola, June 3).

But they have also tabled a contract offer worth €4million (£3.4m) per year (£65,000 per week) to convince the 26-year-old to join the Premier League instead of moving to Germany.

West Ham United being aggressive in the transfer market

The whole Irons fan base knows that there is going to be plenty of transfer business done this summer, whether it being outgoings or incoming.

Several players are set to head out with Danny Ings and Flynn Downes interesting Southampton [TalkSPORT], while Lucas Paqueta’s future is up in the air with the FA pushing for a lifetime ban [The Sun, 4 June] after he was charged with spot-fixing.

But there have been several reports that the club are tabling offers for players in a number of positions, while they’re also closing in on a deal to sign Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras too.

Fans have been calling for more aggression in the transfer market for the past few windows, and David Moyes’s more measured approach has earned him the moniker “dithering Dave.”

However, Steidten is eager to shake off the club’s bad reputation and move swiftly to bring in players, and this strategy of making a sizable bid is likely to make people take West Ham seriously.
