According to a new development regarding Kurt Zouma’s future, West Ham will accept a “significant” offer if one comes in during the summer transfer window.

After moving from Chelsea to the Hammers in 2021, the 29-year-old has emerged as a major player over the last three seasons, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Zouma has worn a West Ham shirt for 103 games in all, always serving as one of David Moyes’ primary center backs. However, his future at the London Stadium is currently uncertain.

The France international’s contract with the Hammers expires in the summer, thus this summer’s transfer window represents their final realistic chance to get a good price for him.

West Ham will now approve a “significant” offer for the former Chelsea defender, however his departure is far from certain, according to a fresh report from Football Insider:

Kurt Zouma will be sold by West Ham this summer in the event that they receive a “significant” bid during the transfer window. Senior writer Pete O’Rourke disclosed on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that clubs in Saudi Arabia have expressed interest, and that a potential exit deal may be planned during the transfer season.

“But sources also claim that Zouma, 29, would be surprised if he was fired from the team because of his captaincy.”

Regarding Zouma’s future, there are strong reasons on both sides because, when healthy, the Frenchman is still a very dangerous player.

At 29, he is a proven leader at a time when other well-known players may be moving on, and his best years as a defender should not change until he approaches his mid-30s.

Nevertheless, it is possible that West Ham will lose Zouma on a free transfer in 2025, which would be very undesirable, so there is some benefit to making money off of a player who turns 30 later this year.

The decision may fall to incoming manager Julen Lopetegui, and he should be trusted if he believes that adding a younger player this summer is the better course of action.
