THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay on Tuesday said running back Kyren Williams is dealing with a little “foot issue” that will prevent him from participating in the team’s OTA workouts.
McVay indicated withholding Williams from participating was just a precautionary move by the team, and that Williams will be ready to go for training camp.
“It’s nothing to worry about,” McVay said after Tuesday’s OTA workout. “He’ll be ready to go for training camp, but there’s a little issue when he was training, and kind of just leave it at that. But nothing to be concerned about. I told him, I said,’It’s probably a good thing now that you’ll be with (Vice President, Sports Medicine & Performance) Reggie (Scott) in a little bit more of a discipline program instead of you just, you know, running yourself ragged. But I love Kyren, he’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, but that’ll be training camp.”
Williams finished with the third-most rushing yards in the NFL (1,144) and tied for fifth among all running backs in rushing touchdowns (12) despite playing in only 12 games in a breakout 2023 season that garnered Second-Team All-Pro recognition by the Associated Press. He sustained a hand injury in the Rams’ wild card playoff game against the Lions which required surgery in January.
