The most recent information on Leicester City, which is said to have started negotiations with former Nottingham Forest player Steve Cooper regarding the open manager post.

Regarding the open manager vacancy at Leicester City, it is rumored that the club has met with Steve Cooper, a former player for Nottingham Forest.

The search by City to replace Enzo Maresca, who was officially announced to have moved to Chelsea on Monday, has become more competitive as a few names have surfaced in the media over the previous few days. Cooper is one instance of this.

The former manager of Nottingham Forest has not had a job since being fired at the City Ground in December of last year, but he apparently has no intention of taking a break from the game in order to quickly return to the Premier League. The Sun now claims that formal discussions have taken place between his delegates and the leaders of Leicester.

They clarify that it is unclear if Cooper is the Foxes’ first-choice natural choice or if he would accept the post at an East Midlands opponent. Carlos Corberan of West Bromwich Albion is also rumored to be well-liked; two days earlier, a similar report surfaced about negotiations between the two players.

In the end, Cooper—the recently reinstated favorite of the bookies—would have to choose whether or not to cross that East Midlands boundary. Earlier in the week, he reportedly rejected an offer from Burnley because of rumors that he would be open to doing so in order to return to Premier League management.

The 44-year-old’s last position saw him lead Forest from the bottom of the Championship to play-off victory at Wembley Stadium in a matter of months. He then led the team to safety in the 2022–2023 season after the club returned to the Premier League.

He left Forest in the middle of the season last year, with the team in 17th place. Despite losing points, Nuno Espirito Santo, his replacement, managed to maintain Forest in the division.

If Cooper is appointed to the Leicester position, the Portuguese coach may expect him to replicate his methods at the King Power Stadium, where the team faces financial instability and the possibility of punishment as they make a top-flight comeback.
