Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes have received a transfer boost that comes just in time for Newcastle United.

This summer, both players have been strongly linked to moves away from St. James’ Park; Isak was initially believed to be on Arsenal’s wish list. The Premier League winners Manchester City are reportedly interested in Guimaraes, and the Magpies are understood to be nearing Financial Fair Play margins.

Isak will have a quiet summer as a result of Sweden’s failure to qualify for Euro 2024, but Guimaraes will play for Brazil in the Copa America, and supporters of United are starting to wonder if they will play together again next season. Newcastle intends to hang onto both for the time being.

Fans can see both players wearing the new black and white outfit in promotional videos, which may indicate that Isak and Guimaraes are here to stay in the northeast. The players unveiled their Adidas kit for the 2024–25 campaign earlier today.

On social media, one admirer posted something encouraging: “Great to see Bruno and Isak heavily involved in the new kit launch, hopefully a positive sign.”

Exits appear to indicate a lot of moving pieces, but as I mentioned a few days ago, Guimaraes’ predicament would necessitate a lot of back and forth between City and Newcastle, and his reported departure is still thought to be “extremely unlikely.”

The story further claims that insiders have disclosed that the trade has been given “no chance” of happening this summer and that the Gunners’ purported fondness of Isak is off limits. Howe is aware that his team needs to get better, but considering the wider situation, it seems reasonable to assume that United will only allow fringe players to leave.
