As the Whites want to bring the Spurs player back to Elland Road for the upcoming campaign, a trade deal involving Wales center-back Joe Rodon and Leeds United prospect Archie Gray has received support.
Last season, Rodon was a standout player for Daniel Farke’s team, leading them to the verge of returning to the Premier League. But they failed at the last hurdle, falling to Southampton in the play-off final, leaving several players’ futures in jeopardy.
Rodon and Gray are two of those; the latter is predicted to do extraordinarily well in the match. Spurs have been backed to make a deal, but Leeds are keen to keep him in Yorkshire as the young 18-year-old has already dominated games from a variety of positions.
Alan Hutton, a former Spurs defender, thinks the Swansea City graduate is ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s team and says a transfer would need to include “big cash.”
He told Football Insider, “I think it would be a lot of money on top of that, not just Rodon, it would have to be big cash.”
“He’s had an incredible season. The list of positions the individual has played in includes midfield, full-back, number ten, and more.
“I believe that he will only become better. It is a breath of fresh air to watch him play with such freedom.
“Ange plays in a way that is ideal for him. With his ability to cross into the box, he can move forward and take possession of the ball with his back to the opposition.
“And he’s so young. Although there will be a significant cost involved, if they can get someone of his caliber today, he may stay for many years.
“They would be really smart to sign that.”
