Watford and Leeds United are two of the teams in negotiations to recruit Natan Girma, an offensive midfielder.

This is according to the Italian publication Il Resto Del Carlino, which states that Serie A team Monza is also vying for Girma’s services and that his present employers are requesting a payment of between £2.5 million and £3.5 million.

The 6′ 3in offensive midfielder is rumored to have had discussions on a possible transfer to the Championship with Watford and Leeds United. Reggiana is aware that Girma could be enticed to move abroad, even if they don’t want to lose their star player.

The Italian team placed 11th in Serie B the previous year, and they may find it difficult to hold onto the 22-year-old this summer due to interest from Watford, Leeds United, and Serie A team Monza.

Watford and Leeds United are competing in the Natan Girma match.
Girma’s debut season in Serie B was 2023–24, and the youthful Swiss midfielder flourished, making 29 appearances for Reggiana across all competitions, with three assists and six goals.

The 22-year-old has been playing football in Italy since the start of the 2021–2022 season, but before joining Reggiana in the summer of 2023, he played lower league football with Sona Calcio in Serie D.

Girma fared well despite the significant step-up, which attracted interest from Leeds United, Watford, and Monza.

It could be a dangerous move for Leeds or Watford to recruit him after only one season at Serie B level, given that the Championship offers a little higher caliber of game and that his team is reportedly seeking a hefty cost of between £2.5 million and £3.5 million.

But Girma demonstrated last summer that he could go from Serie D to Serie B, so there’s no reason he couldn’t do the same in the Championship.

Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter were Leeds United’s main options in the number ten position during the last campaign, but neither of them is a natural number ten, therefore it appears that Daniel Farke is trying to address that this summer.

Leeds has a very strong squad right now, but after missing out on promotion, they will likely lose players in the coming months. As a result, they will need to replace those players, but they might not have the luxury of spending a lot of money. For that reason, signing Girma for between £2.5 million and £3.5 million could be a good option.
