Leicester City, Rangers, Celtic and Wolves are among those keen on Bristol City striker Tommy Conway with a summer sale likely, as per Bristol Live. Leicester City are heading for the Premier League while Bristol City will be staying in the Championship for another season.
After a strong conclusion to the season, the Foxes emerged victorious, while the Robins secured a solid 11th place finish.
Both are in for busy summers, but for different reasons. Leicester, once they’ve appointed Enzo Maresca’s replacement, need to prepare for the top-flight while raising funds from player sales, while Liam Manning is embarking on his first summer window in charge at Ashton Gate. Signings will be the focus for Bristol City but one man who could depart is Tommy Conway, and it is claimed that Leicester City are among those keen. Bristol Live states that the Scotland striker is poised to be sold this summer as he enters the last 12 months of his contract. As a result, interest from Wolves, Celtic, Rangers and the Foxes has emerged.
A wise decision?
One could have hoped that Conway would prove useful to Bristol City in the future.
With 25 goals and six assists in 92 games for the Robins, the 21-year-old striker appears to have a promising future. The team would have liked to see him wear their colors for a larger portion of that future.
But it appears as though they pressured their hand. With a new contract still pending, City is forced to sell since they don’t want to lose Conway for pennies on the dollar when his contract expires the following summer.
Naturally, that has aroused curiosity abroad. It remains to be seen where Conway ends up, although intriguing choices for him include Rangers, Wolves, Celtic, and Leicester City.
Bristol City may benefit from Conway’s call-up to the Scotland squad for the 2024 European Championship.
After Lyndon Dykes, the striker, sustained an injury, he was added to the roster.
Conway only made his debut against Finland last week, coming off the bench. But the striker’s standing can rise if he can contribute to Steve Clarke’s team and score in the European Championships.
That could lead to more interest in Conway and help Bristol City receive a good price for their academy graduate.
Regardless of how this summer plays out, a sale is imminent, but the striker will be motivated to contribute on the international scene and will have the support of the Robins.
