According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray have joined the race to sign West Ham United defender Ben Johnson after he was recently linked with Rangers and Leeds United.
The player’s contract will expire at the end of the month and there have been reports Philippe Clement would like to bring him to Ibrox.
Fotomac today report Galatasaray are looking to offer the 24-year-old a salary of €2m a season, plus a signing on fee, to get ahead of Rangers. It’s also reported Gala’s manager Okan Buruk is keen to bring in a promising young full back and Johnson is an option.
Rangers’ salary for the fullback is reportedly the team’s worst weakness, and the Super League team will try to capitalize on this.
Johnson is reportedly attracting interest from Leeds United in addition to Rangers and Galatasaray. That transfer currently appears doubtful, though, after failing to get into the Premier League.
It is still anticipated that West Ham will try to retain Johnson by presenting a fresh offer. He made 25 appearances for the Hammers in the previous season.
