Rangers are interested in signing Albion Rrahmani this summer in a deal which could be worth around £5million.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that signing a new striker is a priority for Rangers this summer and they will soon enter the market for a deal.

The Rapid Bucharest striker scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances last time out, attracting plenty of interest in his signature.

According to sources, Rangers are still considering Lawrence Shankland, and Hearts would find it difficult to decline a “really big” offer for the SPFL’s top scorer from the previous campaign.

A Lawrence Shankland twist appears as Rangers consider two new strikers.
The Ibrox club is interested in signing Shankland long-term after their January effort to recruit him resulted in him finding the net 31 goals in 47 games last season.

If a deal can be reached between the two clubs, the Scotland international would be delighted to go to Ibrox this summer, according to sources who spoke with Football Insider.

Hearts hold the key to Rangers’ striker decision as any deal to sign Shankland would depend on their asking price.

Rrahmani, meanwhile, has emerged as a new option for Philippe Clement’s side, and his goalscoring exploits last season have moved him up the list of their targets.

Cyriel Dessers remains Rangers’ main number nine after a hit-and-miss season saw him bag 22 goals in 54 games across all competitions, averaging a goal every other game in the league.

However, there is an acceptance at Ibrox that he cannot be relied upon to lead the line as their sole striker after the departure of Kemar Roofe when his contract expired.
