The dates of Sunderland’s preseason friendly for their tour of Spain next month have been set.
On Monday, July 15, the Black Cats will board a plane for Costa Blanca, where they will spend a week at a training camp and play two games. Sunderland will play CD Eldense of the Segunda Division on Sunday, July 21, after taking on local opponents on Friday, July 19. The opponents are anticipated to be revealed the following week.
Both games will start at 7 p.m. local time on Saturday at the Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia. The team has stated that, while ticket details will be verified eventually, they are “exploring the possibility of coordinating coach travel for supporters to and from each fixture.”
Sunderland will split their squad to play South Shields and Gateshead on the same day prior to their trip to Spain. The games are scheduled for Saturday, July 13. The Black Cats’ match against South Shields at the 1st Cloud Arena is scheduled for 12.30 pm. Gateshead’s match at International Stadium is scheduled for 5 pm.
Sunderland has scheduled friendlies against Bradford on Tuesday, July 30, at 7.30 p.m., and Blackpool on Saturday, July 27, at 3 p.m. The team’s last preseason game is scheduled for the weekend of August 3, however the opponent and location have not yet been determined. Last year, Sunderland’s preseason campaign came to an end at the Stadium of Light with a game against La Liga team Real Mallorca.
