Brighton has made an offer to Leeds United over the signing of Crysencio Summerville this week. The Seagulls hope to jump Chelsea and Liverpool in the competition for the winger.
The fact that Leeds won’t be promoted has become even more apparent in the past 24 hours following Southampton’s victory over them at Wembley.
The Premier League schedule was released this morning; Leeds is unrelated to any of them, and Crysencio Summerville is now the target of his first official summer approach.
Fabrizio Romano shares news of Brighton interest in Crysencio Summerville
Fabrizio Romano dropped news on Monday that Leeds have seen the first club initiate contact and talks over the signing of Summerville.
Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton are the club in question, getting in touch with Leeds early in the window over the possibility of signing the Dutch winger.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool are noted as interested, but are yet to make a move to sign Summerville.
Romano delivers update on asking price for Summerville
The fee is the most pressing matter for Leeds fans to find out about, knowing the 22-year-old’s sale sets up a much better PSR standpoint and reinvestment as a result.
Romano added further insight into what Leeds are expecting in terms of a transfer fee, speaking on the Daily Briefing stating that there are “talks ongoing”, via Ben Jacobs:
“I think what you’re saying is the correct fee, around £35-40million I think at the end of the story for Summerville.
“It’s also going to be important with something like the payment terms, how many years they pay the fee for, all these kinds of things are important in negotiation.
“But yes, I have a sense that they hope to get close to a deal done for around £35-40million, so that could be the price, and I think in the next days it will be important to see how this contest will go.
“The timing will be important, if Brighton are not able to reach an agreement in the next two, three weeks, maybe these big clubs could appear, and so it could be complicated to reach an agreement.”
£40m would be a huge sale for Leeds
Factoring in Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra bringing in a similar sum for our 23/24 accounts, having Summerville leave for £40million would be huge for our PSR standing.
Should we sell him for that money, I don’t think anyone can really have any complaints with him leaving, and it’s entirely a reasonable fee too.
Hopefully we can get it thrashed out as soon as possible too, in order to get our summer window underway early.
