According to rumors, Barcelona’s Raphinha, a winger, has turned down a trade to Newcastle United after the Premier League team reached an agreement.
In order to maintain their goal of being among the top teams in Europe and to stay out of trouble with the financial regulations, the Magpies may have a difficult summer in the transfer market.
Competitors both domestically and internationally are vying for Newcastle’s top players, attacker Alexander Isak and key midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. As they move on with the newest stage of their recruitment campaign, Newcastle will need to strike a balance.
In order to reinvest in the team, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales acknowledged earlier this year that the Magpies could need to sell some of their best players.
“On any player, at any time, it depends on circumstances,” Eales remarked. It might be hard to speculate, but if we receive a £1 billion offer for one of those players, then it would be hard to refuse.
Every choice we make will always be considered in light of the club’s medium- to long-term benefits. Although it’s hard to comment on individual players, I can state that trading players is occasionally required if we’re going to reach our goals.
“Trading that player can make sense if for some reason—the player’s contract is expiring, the offer is too good to pass up, or you need to reload in other areas. Due to the boundaries, it is counterintuitive and a feature of PSR’s core concept that trading your players is encouraged if you wish to reinvest.
Newcastle is reportedly considering moving for Raphinha, one of their preferred players, in order to lessen the damage if they are forced to trade some of their top players.
Newcastle and Barcelona are said to have “closed the agreement” already because the Premier League team “would be willing to reach 60 million euros for his transfer, exactly the amount that the club paid for his services” to Leeds United, according to those reports.
