A transfer insider, who acknowledged that a move appeared doubtful, has told Leeds that it will be difficult to finalize a deal for one of their midfield targets this summer.
Leeds is expected to undergo significant upheaval this summer.
Daniel Farke’s team is expected to make a number of roster changes prior to the start of the upcoming Championship season after missing out on promotion to the Premier League. After his loan period ends, Joe Rodon will rejoin his parent team, Tottenham, while Jaidon Anthony will rejoin Bournemouth.
Elsewhere, financial concerns mean that Championship player of the year Crysencio Summerville seems set to depart, and he could be joined by plenty of other stars.
Wilfried Gnonto, Archie Gray, and Georginio Rutter have all been connected to departures, therefore more help will be required.
Leeds receives an answer from Skipp
An update regarding Oliver Skipp’s possible transfer, who is presently playing for Tottenham Hotspur, is on the horizon. When the two worked together at Norwich, Skipp was a star for Farke, and he has previously expressed his appreciation for him.
Under the German manager, the midfield player was essentially a constant on Norwich’s championship-winning team and was included in the Championship team of the year.
Oliver has played for us in the league virtually every second of the season, for a team that has a lot of competition in the squad, Farke said. “I am quite careful in praising them too much but actions are more important than any words,” Farke said.
“I don’t want to praise him too much in public; it’s more like I keep criticizing him every day. This says a lot about how much I rate and value him.”
Additionally, rumors had the midfield player moving to Elland Road to reunite with Farke in the event that Archie Gray or Ilia Gruev left the team this summer due to interest from across
Transfer analyst Graeme Bailey, meanwhile, has shot down those rumors, particularly when it comes to a permanent move. He believes Tottenham would be reluctant to allow the 23-year-old go, even if it were only on loan, because of domestic quota issues.
“I don’t see it, primarily because Skipp was a Spurs homegrown player who had opportunities.” He would cost a lot of money to sign. Perhaps if it had been a loan with an option. But as for a long-term agreement, no,” he said to Leeds United press.
“I think it will depend on the player, but personally I don’t see Skipp leaving this summer, even with Hojbjerg leaving.” I believe Leeds would be at the table for him if he went, however I could be proven incorrect. But that wouldn’t be an inexpensive arrangement.
Leeds supporters will be hopeful that, should Spurs decide to move the Englishman, Farke’s friendship with Skipp will work in their favor.
