Leeds United have sanctioned the loan deal of Jack Harrison to Everton for a second season as the winger takes advantage of the loan clause in his contract.
The Whites aren’t nearly in as much turmoil as they were last summer, despite the fact they missed out on promotion and have outgoings looming.
Loan clauses dominated the landscape a year ago, but that has dwindled down to just two, and Jack Harrison is the only one utilising his.
Jack Harrison to Everton agreed and ready to be completed
Harrison clearly made a strong impression on Everton boss Sean Dyche last season, with talks over renewing his loan agreement finalising this week.
The Leeds winger is set to complete a second temporary deal with the Toffees for the 24/25 season, as Fabrizio Romano reveals the deal is agreed:
As Romano reports, the two clubs are finalising the final details of the deal before seeing him back at Goodison Park for a second successive season.
Harrison’s Leeds contract signed weeks before relegation runs until 2028, and there is currently no telling whether this loan clause will persist going forward.
Harrison isn’t wanted at Leeds, but it goes to show how embarrassing our business was under Victor Orta that a £20million asset has ended up being wasted on loan for the following two seasons after relegation.
He wasn’t popular amongst the Everton fans for the same reason Leeds fans grew tired of him, with inconsistent output on the wing.
However, Dyche sees something in him and Everton aren’t in the place to pass up signings that cost nothing other than wages.
