As he finalizes a transfer from Corinthians, Carlos Miguel cleared a medical at Nottingham Forest, people close to the player told Football Insider.
The shot-stopper’s £3.4 million release clause was recently activated by the Premier League team as he got ready to report to the City Ground for examinations.
Sources have said that the deal is now all but done with a full agreement in place and contracts exchanged.
The Brazilian will be at Forest to join up for the start of pre-season, and an announcement is soon to come.
Forest prioritized signing a new goalkeeper this summer after managing only four clean sheets in the previous campaign. As they get ready for yet another season in the top division, the team is also concentrating on signing a new striker.
Miguel’s Corinthians contract was scheduled to end in December 2025. Prior to this season, he was considered a backup option for the Brazilian team, but he had established himself as a regular.
Carlos Miguel will strengthen the defense for Nottingham Forest.
After making 14 appearances this season and preserving seven clean sheets, Miguel is in excellent form as he joins Forest. Nuno Espirito Santo will be happy to have that acquisition because in the last Premier League season, only the three relegated clubs had a worse defensive record than his team.
Last season, Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos, and Matz Sels all split time in goal, but none of them was able to hold onto the top spot consistently.
Che Adams of Southampton is presently being watched by Forest as they look to expand their offensive options in other areas.
His Saints contract expires later this month, and Forest may make a move for the 27-year-old, who has been playing for Scotland in the Euros recently, according to a report published by Football Insider on June 16.
