Nottingham Forest are claimed to be considering a move for this fan favourite which would see him return to the City Ground after nine years

Nottingham Forest are ‘watching’ the availability of Michail Antonio with a view to a romantic reunion with the former Reds favourite.

That’s according to The Sun who say the 34-year-old is expected to leave West Ham this summer, after nine seasons with the Premier League outfit.

However, the Hammers are under new management this summer and with Julen Lopetegui coming in for David Moyes, the report says Antonio will be ‘surplus to requirements’.

They say the 34-year-old believes he can play for another couple of seasons at the top level and despite interest from overseas would prefer to stay in the Premier League as long as the right opportunity emerges.

Antonio missed three months of last season due to injury and ended up scoring seven goals in 32 appearances in all competitions. That brings his West Ham total to an excellent 67 from 254 matches.

The story says there are two MLS teams keen on the Jamaica international and that RB Leipzig head a line of clubs in Germany. Forest and Fulham are named as the two Premier League teams that are interested.

Only Burnley, Everton and Sheffield United had a smaller goal return. Antonio has one year left on his contract although the Hammers have the option of extending to 2026.
