Mason Munn, a teenage player from Northern Ireland, has inked a lucrative long-term contract deal with Rangers. The 18-year-old goalie has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him associated with the Ibrox team through 2028.
Munn solidified his spot in Rangers’ B team during the previous season and played in Steven Smith’s Under-18 team, who won the Scottish Youth Cup 2-1 at Hampden Park against Aberdeen.
The former Glentoran goalkeeper is expected to play in this summer’s European Championship campaign. He has also received caps for Northern Ireland at the Under-19 level.
After moving from Glentoran to the Old Firm heavyweights Rangers in the summer of 2022, Munn has rapidly established himself there.
Being a lifelong supporter of the team, Rangers manager Philippe Clement claims Munn has what it takes to represent the team.
Mason’s decision to dedicate his future to the Rangers fills us with great joy. As a lifelong Rangers supporter, he is aware of what it takes to represent this team, and it is recognition of his growth in the Academy in recent years,” Clement said on the team’s website.
“There is further improvement to come from Mason in the years ahead and we look forward to his continued development as an individual.”
“Throughout his development in the Rangers Academy, Mason has shown the necessary attributes along with the natural talent that is required by modern goalkeepers to give himself the best chance to continue his already strong progression,” said Nils Koppen, Director of Football Recruitment.
“We’re happy he sees Rangers as his future home, and we think the coaching, facilities, and support staff here at the club will be ideal for him to grow and thrive.”
