Alan Smith, a former striker for Leicester City, has offered Steve Cooper some transfer advise.
After assuming leadership at the King Power Stadium last week, Cooper is already occupied with transfer work. In an interview with the club, he discussed his team and recent additions, saying: “We’ve got a lot of talent, a lot of character, and a lot of excellent traits in the squad already.
“We’ll give ourselves the best chance of achieving the goals that we’ll set for next season with the right additions that the club is working with to bring in.”
With Kelechi Iheanacho out of contract this summer, Cooper’s wish list is probably going to include a new striker. In terms of strikers, he presently has Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Tom Cannon at his disposal.
In addition, Smith thinks that as they get ready to return to the Premier League, Cooper needs to focus on his defense’s core. He said to Prime Casino, “Leicester needs to add a few players to the squad that are of Premier League quality.”
When you look at Vestergaard and Wout Faes at the defense, you don’t think they make a strong enough duo to play in the Premier League.
Jamie Vardy can’t keep going up top forever. He was still capable of filling in as an impact substitute.
“Leicester needs to be as shrewd in the transfer market as they were a few years ago; they’ll need to pull some surprises out of the bag, just like they did when they signed Mahrez and N’Golo Kante.” Both of those guys really came out of nowhere and were excellent in the Premier League.
“To uncover talent like that is not an easy task. There’s no doubt that Leicester has to get stronger. I’m hoping they can pull it off.
