Hamza Igamane is “close” to completing his transfer to Rangers after the club announced the signing of Liam Kelly, according to Sky Sports.

It is reported that the Bears are already closing in on a deal for Igamane from AS Far Rabat in his home nation of Morocco.

Igamane has been connected to a move for a number of weeks, and as Philippe Clement restructures the current team, the Belgian has made him a top transfer target.

Igamane’s possible inclusion in Morocco’s Olympic squad raised questions about his availability throughout preseason, but the Gers persisted in their pursuit of his signature [Daily Record, June 17].

Hamza Igamane’s move to start Rangers strikers Clement’s squad rebuilding during this transfer window is already underway at Ibrox, as Kelly becomes their fifth summer signing to yet.

Igamane following hot on the goalkeeper’s coat-tails would be the first out-and-out striker through the door, and that’s an area of the pitch expected to see plenty of movement in the coming weeks.

Despite leading the Gers in goal scoring in his rookie campaign with 22, Cyriel Dessers’ future is uncertain as many analysts anticipate the team to bring in more offensive players to replace the Nigerian.

Even if Igamane isn’t anticipated to step in for Dessers upfront on a weekly basis, they might have to take a chance on another striker due to a developing transfer to PAOK [Scottish Daily Mail, 26 June].

Tommy Conway and Lawrence Shankland have already been strongly connected, but Igamane will be hot on their trail, willing to seize his opportunity, regardless of who is selected to fill the number nine spot at Ibrox next season. [On June 18, Alan Hutton].
