If Leeds United loses any important players in the upcoming weeks, they may need to make some transfers during the summer transfer window to strengthen their attacking alternatives.

Since teams are vying for Daniel Farke’s best players, the team may now suffer the penalties of not being promoted back to the Premier League on their first attempt.

Right-sided attacker Wilfried Gnonto is apparently pressing for a return to Italy before the transfer window closes, and Brighton & Hove Albion has reportedly reached out about a deal to sign winger Crysencio Summerville.

As a result, the German head coach might need to bolster his squad with additional wide players in order to replace any players who may depart.

Leeds United’s pursuit of the Copa America striker
Leeds is one of the teams interested in making a summer move to recruit FC Basel’s Liam Millar. This was just reported by The Athletic.

According to the source, Burnley and Sheffield United, two other Championship teams, are reportedly also considering a deal to sign the former Preston North End loanee before the summer 2024–2025 season.

It said that following his loan stint at Deepdale, the Canada international, who is presently representing his nation in the Copa America, would like to return to England the following season.

Leeds, the Blades, and the Clarets will be pleased to hear that the gifted winger’s passion for the nation may make it possible for them to recruit him this summer. He began his career in Liverpool’s academy.

In the latter third of the following season, Farke might find Georginio Rutter a deadly partner if the Whites can prevail in the competition for the intriguing speedster.

Why Georginio Rutter and Liam Millar would be fascinating
First off, Millar may be a great addition to Leeds since he has already shown his abilities in the Championship while on loan at Preston.

The Canadian wizard showed that he is a threat both as a goal scorer and a goal creator when he recorded five goals and five assists in 27 starts for Ryan Lowe’s team, who scored the fewest goals (56) in the top ten in the division.

His five goals came from an xG of just 3.25, and Farke could put him in a position to score goals if he teamed up with an imaginative player like Rutter.

As you can see in the table above, the French magician consistently created high-quality opportunities for his teammates and that meant that Summerville had enough chances to find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Now consider the number of goals Millar, who played better on the left wing for Preston than his xG did the previous season, could score if Rutter were to play a number ten position.

Instead of playing for the goal-shy Preston club, the 24-year-old star, who writer Alexandre Gangué-Ruzic praised for his “ridiculous” form in the Championship, would flourish if he were surrounded by better players and in a more formidable attacking unit.

Therefore, Millar and Rutter could form a lethal partnership at the top end of the pitch as the young winger has the finishing quality, and creative skills, to make the most of the Leeds star’s sublime creativity.
