Leeds United has gained momentum in their pursuit of the player after it was reported that he might be willing to join the team.
With the June 30 financial deadline drawing near, things behind the scenes at Elland Road appear to be heating up gradually but steadily.
Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell should be leaving Leeds shortly after Jack Harrison and Marc Roca finished their departures earlier this week.
Archie Gray has also been the subject of much speculation in recent days, and as Leeds needs to make at least one major acquisition, he appears to be the most probable candidate to transfer at this time.
With work to be done on a few positions this summer, those transactions may ultimately make it possible for Leeds to enter the market themselves.
Oliver Skipp’s position on moving to Leeds is shared in the report.
Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds are reportedly keeping a close eye on each other’s teams in an attempt to do business, according to a report from Football.London.
It’s reported that Angus Kinnear and Daniel Levy, the owner of Spurs, get along well, while Gretar Steinsson, the technical director, lived in North London prior to accepting his current position at Leeds. Both of those individuals contributed to Joe Rodon and Djed Spence’s arrivals last summer.
According to the report, the Spurs are among the teams who are actively interested in landing Gray right now. Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto have also been mentioned speculatively.
Leeds is, meanwhile, concurrently considering a few Spurs players, none more so than a possible trade for Rodon.
Leeds is also interested in midfielder Oliver Skipp, either permanently or on loan, contingent on Leeds’ financial situation.
Good news for Leeds supporters: despite the team’s relegation to the Championship, Skipp is reportedly amenable to a summer transfer to Elland Road because of the allure of working for Daniel Farke.
During his second Championship title-winning season, Farke had him on loan at Norwich City; but, if he was available, Premier League clubs might challenge Leeds.
What has Skipp already stated regarding Farke?
Given that Leeds was also linked to Skipp last summer, it is evident how highly Farke regards him. In his remarks at Norwich, he described him as a “top player.”
However, the affection is undoubtedly reciprocal, as Skipp has already expressed his appreciation for Farke’s contributions in molding him into the athlete he is today.
“It was a critical period for me in terms of obtaining regular games,” he stated. I didn’t go to Norwich believing that I would play 45 of the 46 games and that the season would go as well as it did. When you go out on loan, you want to be able to play a large amount of games.
“I’m really appreciative of [Daniel Farke] and all the players; they made it so easy for me to adjust and later helped shape the player you see today.”
