Archie Gray, a midfielder for Brentford, has agreed to a deal with Leeds United.

The Whites have accepted Brentford’s original £35 million fee offer, and add-ons might push the price up to £40 million, according to a report from Sky Sports.

The adaptable midfield player has permission from Leeds to go through his physical.

According to Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Evening Times, Gray is almost certain to finalize a move, and the medical exam is scheduled for tonight, June 29.

“The deal is £40m; potential add-ons and payment schedule still being discussed,” Smyth wrote on X.

“Medical will be finished by this evening. Brentford wants to have this resolved quickly to prevent hijacking. Chelsea and Spurs are still in it. It has P&S all on it, but it will be difficult to explain.

Although the two clubs have not formally acknowledged the agreement, YEP reports indicate that the transfer will cost approximately £40 million plus possible add-ons. A payment schedule is currently being worked out.

Is there a final twist to the story? Now that clubs are aware of Leeds’ demands and Brentford’s offer, London’s biggest teams, Tottenham and Chelsea, may make even more alluring offers with attractive compensation packages in an attempt to steal the deal.

Although Brentford has taken the lead in their pursuit of the midfield player, Gray is still available for other teams to approach.

It has been stated that Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool are among the teams who are keeping an eye on Gray. If these teams decide to join the fray, it may lead to a bidding war for the exceptionally gifted midfield player.

Since Gray has advanced through the younger ranks of the team, Leeds will view the money they get from the sale of him as pure profit. Leeds, however, was unwilling to sacrifice their generational talent after a breakthrough season the previous year.

But they have to abide by financial regulations after missing out on a Premier League promotion, and the Brentford offer is too good to pass up.
