According to Beren Cross, Charlie Cresswell has already left Leeds United permanently by signing a contract with Toulouse, and he is already in France.
The Leeds-Live writer, writing on his personal X account on June 30, states that the central defender was at the Stadium de Toulouse on Saturday, June 29, just before finalizing a £3.8 million transfer to Ligue 1.
The transaction is anticipated to be announced “imminently,” and the 21-year-old has already had a medical examination before leaving Elland Road.
Charlie Cresswell, a phenomenal academy talent, leaves Leeds United
This summer will be brutal for the Leeds team, as many high-profile departures are anticipated following their failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Supporters may have thought that would allow some bench players from the 2023–2024 campaign to get a chance to establish themselves on the team, but Daniel Farke will not allow that to happen at Cresswell.
After receiving a new contract and the number five jersey last summer, the youthful academy graduate eventually lost ground to Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Ethan Ampadu, and Liam Cooper in the standings.
It is evident that the manager did not consider Cresswell a valuable member of his team or system, and if that is the case, the only way out of this predicament is for him to go.
Supporters will be devastated to see a quality youth talent go, but this deal benefits all parties since he deserves to play elsewhere if he isn’t going to play at Elland Road.
