This afternoon, Leeds United is expected to complete the significant sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham, with Joe Rodon going the other way. Oliver Skipp is already attracting interest at Elland Road.

When preseason action begins and the number of players coming in and departing out of the team increases, July will be a hectic month for the Whites.

Archie Gray appears to be the first notable departure the team has confirmed following a crazy 48 hours of rumors.

Gray is scheduled to leave the team this week and accept a contract worth an estimated £40 million with Tottenham.

The midfielder’s contract has a release clause that was triggered by the North London club after Leeds failed to advance. This is how the agreement came about.

However, as part of the negotiations, Joe Rodon is returning to West Yorkshire for £10 million, giving Leeds a player in exchange:

Leeds have eyes on Oliver Skipp as Archie Gray replacement

Soccer. In addition to Leeds’ ongoing efforts to get Rodon back at the side, London is also reporting that Daniel Farke is also showing a lot of interest in Oliver Skipp, his teammate at Spurs.

The midfielder, who played on loan for Norwich City during their 20/21 Championship title win, may now be Farke’s goal as Gray is departing Elland Road:

However, the same outlet also shared that Leeds tried and failed to include Skipp in the deal that sees Rodon and Gray swap clubs this week, with the 23-year-old expected to have vast interest this summer, while a departure now would also be leaving them fairly short for homegrown midfield talent.

Skipp could be perfect for Leeds next to Ethan Ampadu

Should Leeds be looking at a deep midfielder to replace Gray and balance the squad out, then Skipp alongside Ethan Ampadu would be immense at this level.

Skipp’s ball-retention in the middle of midfield would bring us a new level in buildup next to Ampadu, and that would be a scary signing.

The fact he’s already played under Farke as well is an encouraging thought, knowing that he may be receptive to reuniting, and would hit the ground running too.
