Birmingham City could sign Rangers defender Connor Goldson before their pre-season friendly against each other, according to The Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on X that new Blues manager Chris Davies is looking to bring some experience into his defensive line.
Should a move to St Andrews occur, the defender could be playing against the Gers within weeks in the scheduled pre-season friendly on 24 July.
What the departure of Connor Goldson could mean to Rangers
Since the 31-year-old arrived from Brighton back in the 2017/18 season, Goldson has been one of the most consistent players.
He has played 309 games and has managed to contribute to a total of 38 goals during that time.
So it would come as quite a shock to fans for them to see the defender representing another team, let alone playing against them.
Indeed, a move to Birmingham feels like a hefty downgrade and it would be surprising to see the Shrewsbury academy graduate make the move to League One, especially since he would be within the first-team fold for Philippe Clement’s side.
However, although a move to the Blues would be surprising, it wouldn’t come as much of a shock to see the defender depart Ibrox alongside James Tavernier during the transfer window [Daily Record, 1 July, page 45] as the pair are being consistently linked with moves away.
