Jota Silva is someone who has been persistently linked with a move to West Ham United over the past month or so.
Each report has come with contrasting information about whether or not Jota Silva will actually make the move to West Ham in the summer transfer window.
Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui desperately needs to sign a right-footed left winger this summer, with Said Benrahma having joined Lyon on a permanent deal.
Jota Silva, 24, is someone who’s been on the Hammers radar since May, and that doesn’t surprise me at all given his quality.
However, It was actually claimed last week that West Ham had pulled out of the race to sign the right-footed left winger.
That was bad news as far as I’m concerned – such is the ability of the Portuguese attacker.
He lit up Primeira Liga with Vitoria de Guimaraes last season, and was actually very unlucky not to be part of the Portugal squad for EURO 2024.
I personally think that he’d take the Hammers’ attacking play to another level entirely if he moves to the London Stadium, and now there has been yet another twist in our ‘on-off’ pursuit of the winger…
Jota Silva to West Ham twist emerges
The Portuguese ace is out of contract with Vitoria de Guimaraes next summer, so his club will surely not want to risk losing him for nothing in 12 month’s time.
They are said to be demanding around £17 million for the 24-year-old winger, but I fully expect that price to drop down as the summer transfer window rumbles on.
Silva could be a game-changing signing for the Hammers, and Lopetegui clearly wants him at the club.
So the report suggesting that we’d actually dropped out of the race for his signature was a disappointing one.
However, a contradictory claim has now been made out in Portugal.
According to A Bola, West Ham are actually being touted as the club showing the most interest in signing Jota Silva this summer.
That’s more like it. I think Silva would be a great signing for us.
Silva possesses pace in abundance, a wicked shot, exceptional technical ability and is an extremely hard worker.
The attacker was in fine form out in Portugal last season, with 15 goals and seven assists to his name for Vitoria de Guimaraes.
I think West Ham should just offer £15 million for Jota Silva and be done with it. He’d be a game-changing signing for us this summer, make no mistake about that.
