Rangers are expected to announce the signing of AS FAR attacker Hamza Igamane, who passed his physical, according to TEAMtalk.
On July 2, the news site revealed that the 21-year-old and the Gers had come to a double deal, with a five-year contract and a £2.5 million price hammered out.
The forward from Morocco, who had not yet received his visa, has also been granted it. He will be the next player to leave Ibrox this summer.
Rangers take a chance by spending that amount on an unknown outside of Morocco.
Gers took a big risk when they agreed to pay £2.5 million for Igamane because of his inexperience playing outside of Morocco.
The 21-year-old striker has shown promise in his own nation, but the Scottish Premiership is a very different animal due to its increased physicality and level of competition.
It’s best to have lower expectations for Igamane throughout his debut season.
It will take him some time to get used to the new league, the team’s playing philosophy, and Philippe Clement’s expectations.
It would be unrealistic to expect him to hit the ground running and immediately become a prolific goalscorer.
Instead, fans should look for signs of development and potential.
Igamane has the physical attributes and technical skills to succeed, but he will need to work on his decision-making positioning and finishing to become a consistent threat in front of goal.
In the long run, he might prove to be a useful addition to the Ibrox team if he can continue to improve over the season.
