Yusuf Kabadayi, a winger for Bayern Munich, decided to sign with Augsburg, thus Rangers will not be getting him, Tobi Altschaffl reports.

Kabadayi will sign a deal with Augsburg through 2028, according to a post by a German writer on X. The Bundesliga team will pay an initial £762,000 plus add-ons for the 20-year-old.

Kabadayi, who was high on Philippe Clement’s transfer wish list, spent the previous season out on loan with Schalke in Germany’s second division. Three weeks ago, Kabadayi traveled to Glasgow for negotiations [The 4th Official, 9 June].

Rangers suffer their first transfer setback in a position of depletion.
Although some observers questioned if Kabadayi would actually be successful at Ibrox, it’s evident that Clement had high hopes for the 20-year-old this summer [SchalkeZone, 8 June].

The Belgian currently has six wide offensive players available to him in the starting lineup, although several of those players’ futures at the squad are uncertain [Fanatik, 10 June].

Tom Lawrence has made it obvious that he intends to depart in the coming weeks, and Sam Lammers and Ianis Hagi are not anticipated to stay after their respective loans ended last season [Fanatik, June 12].

Oscar Cortes has returned to Lens on a season-long loan, but Clement lacks quality wide players since both Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva returned to their original clubs [Daily Record, 4 June].

This lack of choices might have been mitigated by signing Kabadayi, who would have been a player suiting Clement’s recruitment policy of acquiring young, promising players throughout the transfer window.

Although another, Hamza Igamane, is on the way, the Gers cannot afford to give up on finding game-changing widemen in light of this latest setback. [July 3, Daily Record].
