The last few days of the transfer window have been fairly hectic for Leeds United fans.

Thanks to the sale of Archie Gray and then the return of Joe Rodon to Elland Road, the Whites have had their fans going through something of a rollercoaster of emotions lately.

The sale of Gray came out of nowhere and really caught fans, and the player, off guard, with the deal no doubt having to do with long-term PSR parameters in mind.

Gray’s departure is said to have left those at Leeds heartbroken as one of their own was forced to depart.

Fans knew that a sale would likely happen but nobody expected it to be the 18-year-old. Now, despite his departure helping Leeds get to where they needed to financially, the midfielder’s departure isn’t set to be the last.

That is according to Alan Nixon who took to X on 1 July and stated that he expects more departures to come from Elland Road this summer.

Although Nixon didn’t name any players specifically that could leave, a separate report from the Daily Mail on 1 July highlighted Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe as two players that are “expected” to be sold.

Why Leeds United shouldn’t sell Patrick Bamford or Joel Piroe this summer

As additional sales may have to be made in order for Leeds to upgrade their squad overall, the sale of Piroe or Bamford makes a lot of sense

The likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto are two other players who are expected to depart [Ben Jacobs, 18 June] which, in theory could bring in much more money but they would be far worse off skill wise.

Although Bamford wouldn’t bring in as much money, it feels like now is finally time for Leeds to cut ties with the striker.

The extra influx of money would allow Leeds to reinvest some of the money towards a new number nine.

Although Bamford himself has almost become synonymous with Leeds and has helped lead their line for the past few seasons, due to his age and injury history, an exit seems to make the most sense for both parties.

Especially since Mateo Joseph is also coming through the Elland Road ranks.
