Coventry City have made two new development signings, adding Cambridge United duo Kai Yearn and Greg Sandiford to the club’s Under-21s squad.

Yearn is a 19-year-old midfielder who made his debut for the U’s at the age of 16, scoring in a 4-1 win over Oxford United in the EFL Trophy to become the club’s youngest scorer in the process.

He went on to make seven appearances for Cambridge United, before departing at the end of the 2023/24 season. The teenager also had spells out on loan in the National League South and North at Chelmsford City and King’s Lynn Town, respectively.

Sandiford, meanhile, also 19, is a versatile defender, who has predominantly featured at right-back throughout his career.

He joins John Dempster’s Sky Blues development side following the expiration of his contract with Cambridge United, where he signed his first professional contract last season.

Sandiford had a spell on loan at Biggleswade Town earlier in his career, racking up first team minutes and experience to aid his development. He was also an unused substitute for the Cambridge first team during the 2023/24 campaign.
