After overcoming their summertime PSR scare, Newcastle United is again clear to move forward and will be aiming to make a big impression on the market.

Over the weekend, Eddie Howe’s team had to say goodbye to Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.

The club gave up the two young players from Newcastle in order to assist balance the books against the financial worries.

But after a season that truly put Howe’s depth of character to the test, the Magpies will finally feel free to spend some cash this summer.

Lewis Hall was permanently signed by Newcastle during the summer transfer window, and Lloyd Kelly was added to the team on a free transfer.

As Howe attempts to significantly bolster his options at the back, it appears that the Magpies are moving forward in their chase of another defender.

Newcastle is getting closer to acquiring a £42 million center back.
Due to serious injuries sustained by both Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, the Magpies entered the summer window with some concerns in their backline.

Newcastle will be concerned about the quality of cover for Botman even though they won’t have to worry about playing a busy schedule following their failure to qualify for any kind of Europe. As a result, the Toon have compiled a list of potential center-back signings for this summer, with one player in particular piqueing Newcastle’s interest.

GiveMeSport reports that Newcastle is making progress in their attempt to recruit AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

According to reports, Newcastle would have to pay approximately £42 million for the Germany international this summer.

The 22-year-old’s circumstances are summarized by journalist Ben Jacobs, who notes that Milan is not eager to let go of the athlete.

“The German defender Malick Thiaw is also being pursued by Newcastle, and he is considered a potential replacement for center back,” he stated.

“Due to AC Milan’s reluctance to sell, the deal is difficult to close, which is why Newcastle was hoping to raise some money from these outgoings.”

Already compared to Sergio Ramos is Malick Thiaw.
The German arrived at Milan from Schalke in 2022 and has since played 54 games for the Serie A team.

With three years left on his contract, the Italian company is still in a good position to discuss Thiaw’s future.

And in the early phases of his career, this player has already garnered a great deal of praise, with the AC Milan website drawing analogies between him and Joel Matip and Sergio Ramos.

However, Thiaw is a flexible player who may provide Newcastle with defensive midfield, center back, and right back cover.
