Brighton and Hove Albion announced the signing of Amario Cozier-Duberry on Sunday, following the winger’s departure from Arsenal.

Brighton and Hove Albion confirmed at the weekend that they’ve completed the signing of Amario Cozier-Duberry, with the youngster signing a contract lasting until June 2028.

Albion’s technical director David Weir said of the move: “We’re really pleased to be able to bring Amario to the club. He’s got attributes we like and we believe he is a player who can flourish in our environment.

“We’re looking forward to working with him and helping his career to progress.”

Arsenal recently confirmed Cozier-Duberry’s departure, having offered him a new contract but seeing their offer turned down. The player made his intention to leave clear to the club on June 20th.

Cozier-Duberry then hinted at an imminent announcement on Sunday, posting a farewell to Arsenal.

Writing on his Instagram story, the winger said: “Thank you to all the staff, coaches, and my teammates at Arsenal for the last five years. I’m grateful for everything the club have done to guide me to where I am today. You’ll always have a special place in my heart.”

Though Cozier-Duberry was out of contract, his age and the fact Arsenal had made him a contract offer means he wasn’t a free transfer. Brighton will owe Arsenal a training compensation payment for the move.

Even so, the fee will be negligible for a club like Arsenal, so it’s a shame they couldn’t have at least got a year or two more from Cozier-Duberry before selling him on for a better fee.

Cozier-Duberry scored 13 goals in 24 games for the Arsenal academy in 2023/24.
