Crystal Palace will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old Senegalese international Ismaila Sarr from Ligue 1 club Marseille to replace Michael Olise.

According to a report by The Sun, Ismaila Sarr is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are scouring the market for a wide attacker in the summer transfer window to replace Michael Olise, who has joined Bayern Munich in a big-money deal. The 26-year-old Marseille winger has thus emerged as a target for the South London club.

Ismaila Sarr and his journey so far

Ismaila Sarr enjoyed a solid debut season in Ligue 1 after joining Marseille from Watford last summer. The Senegalese international is a native of Saint-Louis and spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the well-known academy at Generation Foot nearly a decade ago.

The 26-year-old moved to Europe in July 2016 but rose in prominence during his spells with Stade Rennais and Watford. However, Sarr’s spell with the Hornets ended last summer, and he has chipped in with five goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions thus far for the Ligue 1 club.

Meanwhile, Ismaila Sarr’s progress at the Ligue 1 outfit has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. West Ham United considered a late winter move for the African winger before a deal failed to see the light of day. The latest update has linked him with Crystal Palace.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Ismaila Sarr is understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window after losing Michael Olise in a big-money move to Bayern Munich. Olise’s departure has created a gaping hole in the offensive department at Crystal Palace.

So, several wide attackers, including Jaden Philogene, have emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with Sarr also being a viable target. The 26-year-old Marseille winger will not cost a bomb, with the Ligue 1 club demanding around £20 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.

Olise’s exit has created a frenzy at Crystal Palace, with several targets emerging on the club’s wishlist. It will be interesting to see if Sarr bolsters the Crystal Palace attack in the summer transfer window.
