Following the submission of a third proposal, Leeds United and Real Betis have reached an agreement for defender Diego Llorente, as reported by Marca.

The Spanish daily reports that the clubs have reached an agreement on a deal worth £2.5 million, with the center-back expected to sign a four-year contract, on page 18. The article was published in their print version on July 8.

The 30-year-old has spent the last 18 months on loan at AS Roma, but the Whites have already turned down two offers and have always been willing to let him leave the team permanently.

Diego Llorente will be sold by Leeds United to Real Betis.
This summer, Leeds has prioritized player departures from Elland Road, primarily moving on with its peripheral players.

Archie Gray has undoubtedly joined Spurs, but his arrival has also provided the team with some more financial stability, meaning other important players won’t be able to leave as quickly.

However, as Daniel Farke doesn’t see players like Llorente, Marc Roca, and Kristoffer Klaesson sticking around in the long run, they have been permitted to move on.

It’s been reported that Leeds turned down a £5 million offer for Llorente from Betis earlier in this transfer window [Adam Pope, July 3]. If the price is indeed lower, it’s strange, but the conditions will be better.

Elland Road is entering a new chapter, and a few familiar people won’t be involved. One of those is Llorente, and his admirers won’t miss him at all.
