The Reds’ 2024–25 Premier League campaign preparations will pick up this week as the players report back for duty before playing again on Saturday against Chesterfield. They are also expected to welcome another new player into the dressing room. Nottingham Forest is expected to begin their preseason with their fourth summer signing.

The long-running story of goalkeeper Carlos Miguel’s anticipated transfer from Corinthians appears to be coming to an end. After traveling from his native country, the Brazilian was scheduled to have a medical examination this past weekend.

Miguel’s contract had a release clause worth 4 million euros (£3.4 million), which is allegedly activated. If everything goes according to plan, he would sign a contract at the City Ground alongside Marko Stamenic, Eric da Silva Moreira, and Elliot Anderson. However, Stamenic left right away to sign a contract for a season-long loan at Olympiacos.

But it’s unlikely that the 25-year-old will be the last person hired by Forest. The team still has a lot of work ahead of them in the transfer window as they try to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s roster.

Right now, the Reds are especially thin at the center of defense. It is anticipated that Joe Worrall may leave, as Sheffield United is interested in him; Jonathan Panzo may possibly go; and Murillo’s future is quite uncertain.

Given that Forest recently dealt with the French club over the sales of Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala, Lyon’s Jake O’Brien has been connected. The Republic of Ireland international, who is 23 years old, would undoubtedly suit the Reds’ preference to acquire relatively young players.

O’Brien is reportedly desired by both Everton and West Ham United, with the former valuing him at almost £20 million. The Reds are “very interested,” according to the French website Foot01, to the extent of “getting close” to Lyon’s asking price of 35.5 million euros (£30 million).

Strahinja Pavlovic, a center-back for Red Bull Salzburg, is reportedly another target for Forest. The Serbian international is reportedly being watched by Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Fulham, Brentford, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to HITC.
