Crystal Palace could be about to pull off one of their most important agreements of the summer transfer window.
This summer looks set to be one of change, with Michael Olise, who was one of Crystal Palace’s star players departing to Bayern Munich, this could be an unsettling one for fans of the Eagles.
There are also question marks about the future of Eberechi Eze, with Tottenham Hotspur understood to be interested whilst Marc Guehi has been linked with a whole host of the top sides in the country.
These departures would certainly hit the club hard but the Eagles could be closing in on one of the most important agreements of the summer.
Palace poised to pull off Oliver Glasner extension
During the midway point of the last Premier League season, Roy Hodgson’s time in South London looked to be coming to an end after a disappointing season.
In came former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner and since the Austrian took the reins at Selhurst Park, he has been a revolutionary figure for the club.
Glasner had performed so well as manager of Palace that Bayern, who were in managerial limbo, wanted to hire the Austrian.
HITC has reported that Palace are keen on tying down Glasner to a new deal after he led the South London club to a 10th placed finish, their joint highest finish in the Premier League.
The Austrian has two years left on his contract with the South London club and Palace are hoping this new deal would also mean that the likes of Eze and Guehi will remain at Selhurst Park.
Glasner renewal would be best deal of the summer
In his 13 Premier League games for Palace, Glasner won seven of these games including a 4-0 demolition of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
it was an incredible turnaround for the club and the Austrian, if he is backed at Palace during the summer transfer window, could even improve their 10th placed finish.
Back in May, Eze was asked about the importance of this summer and he told Sky Sports: “There’s a lot of talent here. So many big players, players who are going to grow into incredible players.
“We’re enjoying playing together, becoming more and more connected as a team, and as long as we’re together it’s going to be a good time, for sure.”
With Olise already departing the club, holding onto Glasner would not only ensure Palace have a top-class coach for the new season but would also give the club the best possible chance to hold onto their key players this summer.
