Leicester City will be looking to add attacking talent from overseas this summer.
Leicester City’s summer so far has been somewhat turbulent due to the Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer saga, which saw him complete a move to Chelsea.
He has joined up with former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, who guided the Foxes to the 2023/24 Championship title at the first time of asking.
Steve Cooper’s side however have been proactive in the transfer window, looking set to complete the signing of Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli for £12m.
They have signed Premier League attacker Bobby De Cordova-Reid after he rejected a contract from Fulham.
Former Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare is also of interest this summer following his release from the Championship club this summer.
Wide options look bare for Leicester City this summer, however they have looked at strengthening the position with a Serie A hot prospect.
Leicester City interested in Juventus winger Matias Soule
Leicester City are reportedly ‘ready to invest’ in Juventus winger Matias Soule for £22m, per Gianluca Dimarzio.
However, it is understood that both the Foxes and Juventus are still yet to agree on a fee for the attacker.
The Argentinian 21-year-old was loaned out to fellow Serie A side Frosinone alongside Foxes target Okoli, who were unfortunate to suffer relegation in the 2023/24 campaign.
Despite an unsuccessful league season for his loan club, Soule scored 11 goals from out wide, whilst also being utilised at times as a centre-forward.
Frosinone boss Eusebio Di Francesco spoke fondly of Soule’s technical side, as he ‘doesn’t lack qualities and has excellent dribbling‘
The necessity of Steve Cooper bringing wide depth to Leicester City
Currently, Leicester City’s wide options consist of Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu and new signing De Cordova-Reid.
Soule winger will help provide the necessary depth in this position and competition to Mavididi and Fatawu, neither of which have any Premier League experience.
Despite suffering relegation last term, Soule’s experience of being part of a struggling side could benefit Cooper, who will be aware that the 21-year-old still managed a fantastic season despite the struggling team he was part of.
Soule could easily be that man to make a difference in a game and show a bit of flair and excitement that could really turn the tide of a match.
The Serie A could also easily be a temporary fix to Cooper’s issue of having limited options up front, with veteran Jamie Vardy being the only significant option available to the former Nottingham Forest boss.
The Argentinian’s goal-scoring ability was put in the spotlight this season as he demonstrated his quality at a high level, something that Leicester City need a guarantee of going into next season.
