According to a recent report, The Magpies are considering the signing of a Chelsea player this summer transfer window.

After missing out on European football last term, the onus will be on Eddie Howe to challenge for the top six this season.

Newcastle were decimated by injuries so they must look to bolster their ranks and add quality in a number of areas.

That said, it’s just come to light that they’re considering a Chelsea player this summer.

Newcastle United discussing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke

According to The Athletic, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been internally discussed as an option at Newcastle United.

The Tynesiders are keen to sign a right-sided winger this summer and are weighing up a number of players in the Premier League having already missed out on Michael Olise – who joined Bayern Munich.

Jarrod Bowen is another being considered whilst they also retain an interest in Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.

A move for Madueke seems the most likely of the three as he’s struggled to really reach the heights expected of him following his £30m move from PSV in January 2023.

The 2002-born attacker, described as ‘electric’ by The Guardian, is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2030 and would command a sizable fee, so it remains to be seen if Newcastle formalise their interest with a bid.

Noni Madueke statistics

Madueke netted eight times whilst laying on three assists in his first full season at Chelsea, which is a commendable return.

His underlying statistics are impressive, too, as he ranks in the top two per cent for progressive carries per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his tremendous dribbling ability, as per FBref.

Further, the England youth international sits in the top 11 per cent for progressive passes received, implying his intelligent movement.

If Newcastle do land his signature this summer, it’d be an exciting addition.
